Top 10: 9/15/10

I love, I dig, I am about this at the moment:

So here goes back into the swing of things. It’s been a while and for that I am sorry.

  1. Elvis & AnabelleElvis & Annabelle: I mentioned this one way back and then apologized for sharing my love for something no one really has access too. But guess what this lovely little romantic comedy is getting a release date on DVD October 5th! Trust me not your normal romantic comedy featuring Blake Lively and Max Mingella (in the new Facebook movie).
  2. KrakenKraken by China Mieville: This is a little Sci Fi Novel written a person far too smart. About a Natural History museum that’s giant squid vanishes and no one saw no sees any sign of how. Enter a London Police Unit no one has heard, some radical religion that considers the squid it’s God and another world of London.
  3. My Name Is MemoryMy Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares: OK so WARNING no one told me and I was quite disappointed in what I thought was an unfulfilling ending- this is the first of three books. About a couple who can remember their past lives. Daniel’s memories come much sooner and clearer. But Lucy doesn’t get them back as clearly. I loved the way this book describes past lives it just makes sense why certain people show up around you, why you remember, what you do regret, etc.
  4. Queso: I made some last night for my book club and I will let you in on what makes it always taste good El Pato- a little can in the Hispanic aisle- gives a lot of flavor with a little kick.
  5. Buffy Night: So me and my friend Kelley love Buffy and we were like we should get together and watch them like they were still on. Basically it is an excuse to get together and we all take turns cooking- so one less meal to worry about each week. Plus a couple of fanatics together with some roped in friends is always fun.
  6. Ryan Atwood: That is all I will say. If you know who he is you get it, if you don’t just skip.
  7. Ray LaMontagne & David Gray Concert in The Santa Fe Opera House: Venue Amazing! Ray so good you want to date him even though he is scruffy. David lovely, well written and performed even better.
  8. Product DetailsHavaianas Sandals: Perfect combo of flips and sandals.
  9. Book of Days Planner from Papaya: I already ordered and filled in the days for next year. Yes I am way early but this little planner with Month & Week Pages also comes with Journal pages in the back maybe now I will actually journal. www.papayaart.com
  10.  These Nine West Boots: The Gellar to be exact. So cute with a skirt or dress, leggings or jeans tucked in. Perfect color to match everything.

And 2 I do not Dig, am not About and definitely do not love:

  1. Being done with everything at work at 11. I hate this with a passion!
  2. The friend not accepting the fade out- just accept it.

Top 10 Obsessions 6/29/10

Crazyness, Lunacy, Insanity my normal state….
  1. Dirty Little Liars: ABC Family this show is awful yet I still love it perfect nothing fluff for my summer mind. Although I love the character through outdits stuff because they always take it too far yes Spencer I know you are a prep lay off the polos and argyle please.
  2. Kindle: Yeah I bought one, I was going to wait out for the iPad but it will be at least until Christmas that it becomes an option for me. Fave feature that I can download samples of almost any book and read the fist 20ish pages or so before I have to buy it. I think I am going to name it Kylie.
  3. Basil Leaf Café: I went Saturday am going again tonight. Yummy and delish Vietnamese food really good and not that much at all.
  4. Loft Sales: As In Ann Taylor Loft 40% off the entire store umm yes please!
  5. Enablers: Heather, Heidi, my mom all enablers in my life yes buy it, yeah apply for it, yes it is really good. They make your world go round.
  6. Hex: BBC America gem way too hot boy, teen angst and lots of other drama. I love this show and have been re-watching it. Better the second time around especially since I barely remember the first.
  7. Firespell by Chloe Neil: Granted 30 pages in and I really just love Chloe Neill can’t wait for the next Merit book (in what like 5 days). But it is fun I love reading about Boarding Schools because they are so far from where I come from.
  8. Shorts, Flips, Sunscreen, Sandals,  Lemonade- Summer!: I love you my first love and am so happy you are back.
  9. Skype: or as my dad calls it the 8th Wonder of the World.
  10. Cute Toes: Umm weirdly enough you know who notices cute toes and sandals the most is guys.  And my mom and then my girlfriends but here is my question why not red toes and flowers with a sea themed sandal star fish included.

2 I Hate as Much as Winter:

  1. Rent going up.
  2. Non working people not getting that you cannot meet on a Tuesday at 9am. Fine don’t work but realize the rest of us are stuck in our 9-5 lives. .

The fine line between Love and Obsession

I don't know about you but I walk this line often.  And more often than not I'm using this equality to justify my obsessions.  But those are only on the terrible things.  The things I am about to show you are only light and happiness and should be embraced!!!

1.  Nine West Shoes.  Pretty much they're the best things ever.  Not only are they uber comfortable but they are just dang sexy.  Case in point the new shoe love I got in Chicago this last weekend.  Please witness the hot pink, the snakeskin, the leather.  I have a weakness for shoes and this particular pair could not be passed up!

2.  Purses.  Lately I have been craving a new bag and finding the one that I've been looking for was a cherry on top.  Metallic colors are in right now and this copper color is pretty much the best thing of my life.  It goes with everything I wear and it's huge and the detail on the purse straps are just fantastic.

3.  Justified.  Gonna have to echo Cor right here and just say ohmyTimothyOlyphant. Oh. My.  He's just so amazing.  And you do loathe the red neck hicks that are the bad guys, I am however amazingly drawn to Boyd.  He's the best bad guy turned "good" ever.  Love this show.

4.  Jamba Juice.  There is NO jamba juice in the entire state of Michigan which is pretty much the crime of the century.  But, I got a taste of it in Chicago this past weekend and I wish that I could have it every day.  Honestly, they really need this here and I wish I could drop out of school and open one myself.

5.  My Camera.  Honestly I can't get enough of taking pictures of what's around me.  I've never been in a place that had spring like this and the fog around Chicago seriously took me in.  I mean look at these gorgeous skyline shots!!

6.  Sweet Potato Fries.  Anyone who knows me knows my love/obsession for french fries.  It is often the reason for my extra running and working out.  But now I not only love french fries but sweet potato fries as well.  They are pretty much simple amazing.  I recently purchased a bag of them from Costco and now whenever my heart desires I get to bake them up and indulge!

7.  Family.  I miss them like crazy crazy, especially when they're all together without me.  But then the prospect of seeing them in two weeks makes me more than happy.  And it can almost overcome my complete apathy towards my life at the moment.

8.  Iron Man II.  I get to see it this Friday on opening day and I can't wait.  It looks so awesome and totally my kind of movie.

9.  Thunderstorms.  We get some real thunderstorms here in Ann Arbor, the kind that wake you up from a dead sleep.  They are pretty much the most spectacular things ever and I could sit and watch them for hours.

10.  Summer.  I despise school right now and am just so glad that it's done for a little while.  It's still haunting me but not as terrible as it was when class was actually in session.

And at the moment I'm hating on fellowships.  They trick you with what an honor they when in reality they're set in place merely to tear down your self esteem and present opportunities for you to cry in public.

Top 10 List 5/5/10

I am so sorry, really I actually am that I have been an absentee blogger lately. There are really good reasons believe me! But I am back and promise never to leave- not that I won't be absent on occasion but I will never fully walk out on you. So here it is bare bones style since I need to get this out there!

1. Concerts in ABQ: Lenny Kravitz- June he could make me do things I regret I even bought a skirt that is as high as I will go for this concert. Rihanna- July shake it fun, might need to recycle that skirt. Muse-October umm yes rock out, I heard they are amazing in concerts so hear is hoping that rumor is true!

2. Passion Pit: They are coming with Muse in October, and have been in heavy rotation on the old iPod for a while. They make me want to dance but at the same time they are so layered and rich you do not exactly know how. Amazing on a good speaker system. Faves: Little Secrets & Sleepyhead

3. Cafeteria: I know work at a place with a cafeteria and as an employee I also get to eat for cheap. So who knew the best breakfast burritos would be in a hospital cafeteria. Also randomly delish Gyros.

4. Glee is Back! And so is OTH & NJ Housewives & RW/RR Challenge & FNL this Friday!: And they are all good which is even more amazing! I have to admit I totally dig Kenny even though he calls himself Mr. Beautiful.

5. Massage Envy: I hurt so good and am also quite surprised my Message Therapist was a tiny little chica and yet she brought the deep tissue. You should do this it as cheap as it is going to get and you deserve it.

6. Ch-Ch-Ch- Changes: A lot has been going on lately from my fam to work to life and it was good, bad & just plain complicated. I am amazed at how easy my family rolls with it.

7. The Losers: Granted I saw way more of Zoe Saldana than I wanted to see but it was a popcorn movie at its very finest. Jeffrey Dean Morgan the most lovely voice, and everyone else played their roles just perfectly.

8. Emma the Miniseries: I was surprised how much I liked this miniseries but it was just witty and the banter is priceless as only Austen can do. I also love Johnny Lee Miller and he is the great in his part completely transparent but not.

9. Ride to California by The Paper Tongues: Just listen and even though slightly angry sounding you will love this tune.

10. Justified: Umm Oh my Timothy Olyphant! I could stop there but I won't I love this show because it is black and white the bad guys are really bad and you are glad when they are gone.

And 2 I Really Just Want to Go AwaY:

1. Dog=Sick @ 1 AM

2. Stress Talkers: you know them, you have them all they do is talk about how stressed they are and they say rude things like oh it is nice you have time for that. They make you want to punch them in the throat. And really we all know the super stressed people ,the actually stressed people only share their feelings with a small group and their half full plate is these people's overflowed plate.

Top 10 Obsessions: 3/12/10

1. This Recipe: I have made it twice now, very easy and very good. I used frozen blueberries but that is all you can get right now. And I do not have a mixer so actually really easy. Makes a great breakfast if you make Texas size muffins.

2. These Flats: I love them they make me think of Spring are cheap and make any outfit much cuter. With jeans and a V (my all time look) they kick it up a notch and then add some accessories and you are ready to go. In fact I might wear them tomm. And really cheap from Target.

3. Need You Now, Lady Antebellum Song- Not a country fan but I look forward to this simple song on the radio. And honestly if you have never thought this about someone I think you are lying to yourself- and all those times I was not even drunk.
4. VV Brown: I really love her and this CD is in heavy rotation at the moment. Faves: Shark in the Water, Quick Fix, Traveling Like the Light, Game Over, Crazy Amazing, L.O.V.E., Everybody, I Love You (pretty much all of it).

5. The Kindness of Strangers even in the face of my Awkwardness: In certain situations (read almost all) I am semi-awkward but in new situations really awkward. So thank you kind strangers for realizing that and going with it.

6. Wedding Shoes: Funny story me and my sister bought the same shoes for our brother’s wedding and we did not even talk to each beforehand. Even funnier now my mom is coveting a pair and may wear them too. Hmm maybe it is a genetics thing, or perhaps we all just appreciate a comfy (notice the platform under the toes- to make the heel not so intense on your feet), cute shoe. Also cheap and from Target.

7. This Bag: even though I may never have it. I saw it in a Mag prob a month or so ago and fell in love. I guess it was featured in a couple of other mags and is starting to sell out. But it screams summer to me and is also big enough for my life. Big Buddha Hibiscus Tote Google it.

8. The September Issue: Behind the scenes look at Vogue Mag, making their biggest issue of the year (September’s) right after all the lines come out. Ever hear someone mention Anna Wintour and have no idea who they are talking about- this movie will explain all of that. And if you do know who she is than then even better.

9. The Nanny Returns: I am not as in love with this book as I was The Help but the way this society is, is quite astounding. This look at people is I am sure extreme but it makes you wonder. Also nice to visit the characters from The Nanny Diaries and see how they are doing.

10. Alice the Miniseries:
This originally aired on SciFi (I am going old school on the name) and I missed but catalogued it away for later. It is 3 hours long but was perfect on a Sunday afternoon, the new Alice is a Karate instructor and she represents chicas in a good way. Some of it is a little trippy but I love love love The Hatter. Watch it, it is endearing and quirky.

2 I Do Not Like, Full Spectrum Here Folks
1. When I call someone’s work cell and their waiting music is 1-2-3 by Britney Spears:
don’t get me wrong this song is infectious but not work appropriate. In fact when it comes on the radio I have on my desk at work I switch the station. And no one even works around me.
2. Princess as a Term of Endearment: In my family when we call you princess we are basically calling you a baby or a drama queen. As in Calm Down Princess.

Obsessiveness February 24, 2010

Mm the things I love to love.

1. Kesha. I am not talking about the songs that are on the radio although they're good. I'm talking about three other songs on her album that you'd have to search out. Take It Off, Blind, and my favorite Boots and Boys. They're all just so catchy! In my head the whole day. Don't buy the entire album though because for a 17-year-old girl she's amazingly dirty...

2. Old Navy basics, the tee's, cardigans, and every day shirts. I recently cleaned out a huge chunk of my closet so it was time to restock the staples and Old Nav was the perfect place to do it. And they were having a sale so I got about 8 shirts, a couple tanks, a vest, and a cardigan for under $100.

3. Steve Madden shoes. Oh um I can't even handle this. I was in Georgetown and there's an entire Steve Madden store and they were having a sale. So I went in and filled a hole in my boot collection with gorgeous black suade slouchy boots with no heels. Yum. Behold the fabulousness.

4. Sledding. Cory I'm sure would disagree but I have been sledding twice in the past two weeks and it has been SO much fun. Sure you get a little banged up and maybe a little cold but you can't help but laugh at yourself and the other people and just relax and have fun going fast and almost hitting trees.

5. Girl Scout Cookies. Every year I forget how awesome they are and every year I somehow end up with a couple boxes and remember that they are just fabulous. Samoas are my fav.

6. Mixing up my playlists. I tend to get in kind of a music rut so every once in a while I go in and spend probably a little too long just going through and changing things up. It lets you rediscover all the amazing music you have and rotate it back into every day listening. Beautiful.

7. Getting close enough to my birthday that I get to start thinking about what I want. And even better not being the one to bring it up, my mom asked me to start thinking about it so now I get to go guilt free window shopping! (Buy me something nice :)

8. Being a rebel and wearing flip flops in winter. Yes every one will call you crazy but you can be happy in the knowledge that your feet are sublimely comfortable and you get to show off your winter pedi for once. I just felt that my summer shoes missed me so I had to give them a little love :).

9. Being able to sit on my couch with a fantastic blanket, a drink, and just watch super fit people compete in sports I'll never dream of being able to do. Otherwise known as the Olympics. I love them and so enjoy watching them whenever I'm home.

10. Planning all the things I'm going to do when I go home. Yes my list is long, and yes most of the things involve eating, and yes I probably won't be able to do anything. But anticipation is really what makes the time go by and just makes Heidi a happy girl. I can't wait to go home!

And an Extra - The Soup! Joel McHale oh how I love you. I think about this show and laugh. I watch it by myself and seriously laugh out loud. I wish it was longer than a half an hour each week....

Top 10 Obsessions: 2/22/10

1.My Life as Liz: I laugh as I type just thinking if this show. Oh man I want a Sully, if only so he could say things like “Mantastic” or “Glitter is the herpes of arts & crafts Liz, it never goes away” with a straight face. On the last ep he showed up dressed as a banana and proceeded to do the Peanut Butter Jelly song, really who does not want that? If you raise your hand I feel bad for you dude.
2. The Historian: Totally late to the bandwagon on this book, to be quite honest the size scared me while I was in college. But I am only 60 pages in and really loving it. I would tell you what it is about but it sounds hokey and is completely not. Look it up.
3. Kell on Earth: so I love this show because it is insane to me that people would volunteer to be treated this way but then you see how Kelly Cutrone actually takes care of her people and you semi get it. Throw in a lot of fashion and all the drama that follows that, oh it is in an hour of pure pleasure.
4. Beatles Tropical Tribute CD: I have no idea where I got this CD but it is on my iPod somehow and I really enjoy singing along to my fave Beatles songs to a tropical beat. Or trying to sing along to them in Spanish in a tropical beat. I usually hate tribute CDs but this one I dig.
5. OTH this week (started this a few weeks ago): John Hughes themed Ep was truly fun. It got March Scwann back in my good graces even though Quinn was dressed like a hooker all night (I know as a girl I should not says these things about other girls, but just look at her outfit). Especially all The Sixteen Candles references because that one is my fave.
6. Ben McKenzie: Ryan on The O.C. is all growned up on Southland and well he grew well. Not to mention Southland is pretty awesome show. A gritty cop drama with a lot of talent, included Mr. McKenzie who really delivers in his part.
7. Belly Dance Class: So I don’t think I have written about the fitness class I am taking but I actually get credit for Fitness Belly Dancing. And that whole credit thing totally makes you go. Although it has been very hard to unlearn The Salsa I know, this class kicks my butt every time and leaves muscles hurting that I have never used before. My obliques, scalenes, intercostals all the ones in my hips and I have ran 40 minutes on an elliptical and never had my legs shake as much as after shimmies.
8. Mary McCormack: This is the main chick on In Plain Sight a TV show that is shot in my fair city. So she went on a show and said some not nice things about my city which we are pretty used too. And to be honest this city is one where it is all about what you make of it. But then a local radio show here was calling her out on it and who should call him but Mary and apologize. She even said she has chosen to raise her kids here.
9. Mint Oreos: I love them and their greenness and their minty-ness all of it!
10. Etsy: Warning do not go on this site if you have no money like me. Because there is so much you will want from painting of your dog to handmade Jewelry, art, scarves, etc. I need to learn not

Top 10 Obsessions 1/29/10

It has been a while since I have done one of these, stupid life getting in the way, so here is the first of the new at least I think it is. Oh and if I ever repeat anything I am so sorry! But I am also too lazy to go back and reread all of them every week.

1. 1901 by Phoenix: Love. I really just dig the way this song is laid out, it is a shallow love that grew deeper after I actually listened to the lyrics. Oh and they are up for a Grammy so you can sound all music snob when your friends ask you about them.

2. Argan Oil: This is a knockoff of Moroccan Oil from Sally’s Beauty Supply and it is like $8. You put a dime size drop in your hair after bathing and oh it is soft, and smells good and looks shiny. Just be careful because too much will cause a grease slick that would rival Danny Zuko’s in Grease.

3. Shakespeare Retold: Damien Lewis and James McAvoy on one disc makes Cory a happy chick. Modern retellings of Shakespeare stories very loose retellings. The shrew is up for the prime minister spot, Macbeth is about a celebrity chef and the guy who actually runs his kitchen, Much Ado is actually a morning network TV show and Midsummer’s another wedding party. All have that British funny I love and some great actors; the only one I would skip is Midsummer’s but the rest keepers.

4. Bulletprrof by La Roux: This song makes me want to rock out in my car. Which because I am in a belly dance class is actually HW, so 2 birds meet 1 stone. And what the girl is singing about we have been all been through: Being burned by someone and not letting them hurt you anymore.

5. This Shirt: Kara summed it up perfectly on that other site we have. But I am ALWAYS with Coco. Jay while mildly funny does not compare and David well I just find him mean. So here is hoping Coco comes back stronger, better and as funny as ever.

6. Cleaning Gloves: This is one of my lame but I am slightly germaphobic. So I bought these so when I clean my bathroom I scrub to my hearts’ content and not worry about my nails. I am also slightly vain. And it does not hurt that they are lime green with a mod print on the cuffs, and if you lotion before it is like a spa treatment- not really but whatever helps me clean.

7. Heads Will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs: This song does not sound that angry (I think Metallica) but the words oh they cut. And I just imagine that feeling where you are so angry you shake. And in my head I see a royalty court scene in the heyday of the monarchy with a Maria Antoinette ywin singing the words- sorry I have a very vivid imagination.

8. Papaya Everything: I have the planner and love, I covet the bag which H just got and loves, want the wall décor, stationary and pretty much everything on there.

9. This Necklace: That is a real orchid which she treats to last forever. I want, I need, I must have, it haunts my shopping dreams. Literally last night I dreamt I was wearing said necklace while…… well I think will keep that to myself.

10. Chia Herb Garden: I just ordered mine and am hoping this will help with the $20 I spend monthly on fresh herbs for cooking. Here is crossing my black thumbs to hope modern technology can cure them!

2 I Do Not Like: The Beatles said all you need Is love, but me I’ve always got some snark.
1. When I am at $23.08 and need $2 to make the free shipping on Amazon! Yesterday I literally added pens to my cart to make it. You brilliant people at Amazon are really getting on my nerves with your free shipping!

2.One Tree Hill: Really Mark Schwann did you really just have 3 sisters duke it out in a swimming pool. I think you are forgetting that most of your viewers are WOMEN! Save your wet dreams for well your dreams.

The Must Haves....

This list is for all the girly things that we all must have. Well maybe not all but the 10 staples.

1) A Kick Ass pair of boots. They are so versatile. They go with anything and everything and will last you forever. Class up a pair of jeans, make that perhaps-dowdy skirt H.O.T. or make that amazing dress of yours that much better. I think that if you’re only going to have one pair make them black, but if you wear a lot of browns make that your first. Save the colors for after the staples, but don’t be afraid of them. The good ones are a little pricey but most definitely worth it. They’re an investment. I personal have one black, one brown, and one amazing copper metallic.

2) A great pair of heels. This is along the same vein and offers a great deal of variety but this is the key here; we’re going for strappy and able to see your toes. On your special day you’re going to have a pedicure and you don’t want to cover it up with shoes that don’t show ‘em off. I usually go for the 4” status, but I’m short so I totally respect that Cor is going to get smaller heels. Strappy though is amazing on everyone though because they elongate your feet, not a bad way. And they give you the feminine look we so love.

3) A fantastic pair of dark jeans. You can do so many things with a good pair of dark jeans. Pair it with a button up and nice jacket and you can rock dressy/casual. Just with a tee and you’re casual date night still looking hot. The key here is really to find ones that you’re comfortable in and ones that fit. They aren’t always the most expensive (the ones that fit me best are really cheap). Just find ones you feel good in and fit correctly.

4) A dress. Not a skirt with a brilliantly paired top, I’m talking an actual dress. One that is nice enough to wear to a fantastic dinner on a cruise, your friend’s wedding, the state affair you always dream about going to. And here you can go wild on color, cut, pattern, honestly whatever you want. Find one you love, then you can have lots of options for shoes, accessories, overlays, whatever to go with it and you’re set for all fancy occasions!

5) Leggings. Alright now let me just say once and loudly for the record: LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS. EVER! Great now that we have that out of the way we can move on to happier subjects. Leggings are great for many different reasons; they can casual down nice dresses, they keep your leg warm in the pesky air conditioned 65 degree buildings, super cute under shorts at the gym when you don’t want to show the whiteness of your legs, and great for those shirts that are long enough to cover your butt (REPEAT, OVER THE BUTT) but not long enough. Don’t be afraid to use and abuse (gym status) because they’re cheap and everywhere. Stock up. Black is best and what you should have first, solids are fun too. Patterns I’m not totally sold on yet but don’t let that stop you rockin’ it. Just not cheetah, snakeskin, etc. please.

6) The boyfriend hoodie. Don’t deny it, we all love hanging out in the boyfriend’s hoodie more than our own. First of all it’s huge enough that we can just hunker down and feel small and snuggly in it. It’s the one you want to just throw on and go to the store in or sit on the couch and watch a movie in. It’s even stylish because you know it’s a boyfriends. Basically it’s the oversized hoodie of whatever style you prefer. So comfy.

7) A great coat. I was recently watching the news and the country freezing, including Florida, and tons of stores there are sold out of coats. This I don’t understand. No matter where you live how do you not have at least one coat? So this inspires me to say: You need a coat. There is always a place for the coat that is probably not the most flattering coat but it’s warm. The coat I’m talking about here though is one that is warm but also makes you look bueno. My personal fav is the pea coat but take your pick. A nice trench will go with any dress, skirt, pantsuit, anything. Invest in one, it also will last.

8) A great scarf, glove, hat set. This is along the same line as the dress, and no matter where you live it gets cold sometimes. The gloves don’t have to be amazing (if you live in a cold place though I would invest in some nice leather ones) but just get a cute set that matches. I have nice black ones with a white hat, goes with much. This is just a suggestion as well that you get tons of scarves. They don’t all have to be warm and they can dress up anything. There are so many color options, style options everything. My only piece of advice on this though is find ones that feel good. There is nothing worse than having something scratchy around your neck for any period of time.

9) A nice button up shirt. In our lives we will all have periods when we need to look professional. Some more than others but the point remains the same. Currently I am looking for a nice white one but apparently they only make them for men and those just will not work. You need to actually buy women’s button up shirts because they are fitted and you don’t look like a sack. Full length sleeves are also the best option. You can always roll up the sleeves but having the complete look of long sleeves is a good one.

10) An every tee. Cor’s are Old Navy scoop neck, mine are Gap, but the principle is the same. Find a style/brand of tee that you like and feels comfortable, doesn’t shrink, etc., and buy every color. I’m not even joking here. Find a simple tee you like and get a lot of them. Tees are the ones that wear out and the ones you want to pair with everything so get all your favorite colors and don’t be afraid to toss out the ones with pit stains, losing their stretch or just old. Embrace that you wear them a lot and they’re going to wear out. It’s because you love them and you should continue having them.

The bottom line of all these things is in all these staples, find the ones that you are comfortable in. The more you are comfortable in your clothes, no matter what they look like you will look great in them.

And a couple things I just would really recommend you never buy ever:
1) White washed jeans. They’re disgusting and look good on no one. The blue parts accentuate all the wrong areas and make you look huge.
2) Clothes that are too small because you want to delude yourself. I understand the difficulties with self confidence but don’t take it out on your clothes. Tell yourself you love you and buy a piece of clothing that accentuates something you love. For me it’s shoes….

Top 10 Bags Every Girl Needs

1. Overnight Bag- You know for those weekend always even if it is just with your fam. Mine is a vintage looking Adidas leather bag white w/bright blue accents. Folds up and sits on my shelf perfectly. Fits everything you need for 3-4 days, or great as a secondary bag for a long trip to hold shoes, DVDs, books etc. It needs to be cute and sturdy, able to take a few knocks, and easy to carry. Most importantly when you put it on your bed to pack you need to be excited to do so. I got mine off of EBay for a steal, so check random places.
2. Exec Tote- This is what I call the grown-up bag. The one you take on job interviews. It can fit a few folders, laptop and the necessities. A solid shape (no slouchiness) and any color will work whether you want basic black or a pop (but not too much stick to earth tones). Mine is a rounded square shape leather tote in a brick red color with pegs on the bottom from Fossil.
3. Utility Tote- This bag is mainly for necessity, but that is no reason not to be cute. The bag you throw that entire overflow into for a road trip, stuff you need to take over to a friend’s house, stuff that you need but do not normally have with you. Those free totes you get with makeup gifts work pretty well for this; also some grocers offer really cute reusable bags. I like one with subtle pattern makes it easier to find in a car and some sturdiness too it since it will be pulled around.

4. Hobo- Slouchy, roomy and gives off a boho vibe. To keep it from looking to sloppy pick one with nice leather and good stitching to keep its shape. The handle should be thick , one handle with some kind of detail on it. I like mine in a color that pops but not too much. It’s Kelly Green with stitching in the corners, big brass rings to attach the handle with whip stitching to the bag. Another eBay find made by Lucky who has done the perfect hobo for years.
5. Go To Clutch- You only really need one. For me a metallic or black works best they go with everything. To make it interesting go for a crocodile, python imprint or one with a cute closure. Needs to only fit a phone, ID, Emergency Cash, gum & Chap Stick (or gloss). Mine is a dark grey satin with silver metal frame and an all sides snap closure. But my favorite thing about the hot pink lining.

6. A Bag W/A Great Pattern- I tend to lean towards large tropical prints. This bag is mainly for summer to add pop to your basic cotton outfit. Go with the shape you usually like just in a pattern. Mine has 2 large wood rings as the handles attached to a black canvas with blue, tan turquoise and white flowers on it.
7. Pulled Together Bag- This bag is the bag you can wear with anything and it dresses it up. You throw it on with your holey jeans, flips and a V and suddenly you feel you are dressed. And it can also go with that skirt and boots combo you rock to work. Go with the size and shape you like with an interesting trait. Whether it be an unexpected color, large hardware, lots of pockets, patent, zippers galore, appliqués or any combo of these. It does not have to cost a million bucks just make you feel that way. I have a few my powder blue patent bag with heavy hardware, basic black bag which get a preppy scarf, to the Target Bag in the pic. There are also some fun choices at Urban Outfitters right now.

8. Dr. Satchel- Short handles, rounded on top, square at the bottom- various sizes, colors, materials go with what tickles your fancy. This bag sits in your elbow when moving. Mine is aged brown leather with lots of handy pockets in the corners and compartments inside. The shape is stylish and classic but the bag a little impractical since it cannot be thrown over the shoulder. But a nice change on occasion.
9. Bowling Bag- Like the Dr. Satchel but more oval than round and longer handles. These bags I like in a more sporty shape and details. Think Puma & Adidas. It is a casual every day bag with sporty flair.
10. Messenger Bag- Crossover body, fabric or leather, sturdy and great to travel with or on days where you will be walking around a lot. These bags make it easier to get in and out of it while still hung on your shoulder. Mine is from The Gap in forest green fabric with a cute paisley interior. It took me a long while to find since I am 6 feet tall to find one that hit me right. And it has 2 outside pockets perfect for chap stick, gum and my phone- easy access. Sadly I could not find a pic of what I wanted since I like a messenger without the flap.

And Here Are 2 I Do Not Like Which for a Girl Who Has A Lot of Purses is Hard to Say:
1. Any bag crammed full- I will admit I go for a fuller bag I need the room I usually have a book, water and a planner with me at all times. I know but who has a snack when you need it not the chick with the tiny little bag the size of the novel I have in mine. Who has to take half her stuff out of it, to get to what she needs.
2. Utility Only- Even if it is your gym bag why not get something you like to look at. What harm will it do.
